Work is bleeding into family life and family commitments never quit my mind. Days and nights have become a big blah. I know it’s pouring on my blog reflecting in my absence. I squirm every time I see the WP icon on my phone. I want to open it and be a part of this world. I want to be present with you amazing writers, some of whom I have gotten to call my friend. But I know when I do get on, there will be a zillion things my mind will zoom in on and my soul will zoom out.
I blame Covid because why not!? It’s spoiled so much. Today is my day to rant so I will lock up the optimistic self and embrace a pity party.
To be fair it’s not like I haven’t been busy or doing anything at all —
I relocated in this pandemic (wiping, sanitizing all the way) to a different house, different city, and even a different state (a post on this should be coming soon, no promises though!).
I made a handful of masks for a local old age community. Granted that’s not that difficult a thing and a work I shouldn’t talk about (mom says, “let your good deeds do the talking rather than you”). I am mentioning because it was the first time I ever tried my hands on sewing and felt good.
I made my kids their study desks for virtual school learning. They love it and their smiles, oh their smiles!
I started my Facebook page for the writing I do, something I always wanted to do. Haven’t been too active there either but an action item struck from the never ending to-do list.
Yet, I feel mentally empty, emotionally exhausted and physically, well tired, very tired.
I know this post makes zero sense and I know tomorrow will be better. I will wake up and find a way to fix my messy mind (may be) but today, just for today, can I be!! Can I be messy?!
I know how you are feeling Pallavi… physically and mentally, most of us feel this way…..

It feels good to know we are all in this together and connected in feelings.
It truly is..on that extra links of gravity 😩

Yes, please! Own the mess 🙌🏼 Because you are not the only one. I seriously struggle with the blog/life balance, too. But I can’t believe you relocated in these crazy times! You are my superhero, friend ❤️.

You’ve done well Pallavi. We are all in the same boat. Patience seems to wane, mind starts messing around.
So fret not dear, this too shall pass soon. Smile and rant off when you feel like. It helps.
Keep smiling and stay safe ❣️

It surely helps especially talking and knowing we are all in this together. But I have to ask you, how do you do it? Producing wonders and gems every day. Kudos!!!

Ah…my kids are older. So not much responsibility on that front. So I guess get that extra time. 😊

Messy is okay especially during this time. By the way, you rock the no make up look. You don’t need it.

I can’t imagine the stress of moving during a pandemic. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Your blog and Facebook will be there when you have the energy to participate and create. The most important thing is you and your loved one’s health and well being. Sending you a virtual hug.

Pallavi, I think all of us are going through this cycle. Balancing life in these precarious times seems a Herculean task! Don’t be hard on yourself. Take care. I don’t know when this will pass but it is perversely comforting that all of us are in it together. ❤️🤗

I see what you meant Pallavi. Let’s hope that some of these tasks may grow to become habits that feel more part of you and thus get easier 🙏

Glad to hear from you, Pallavi 🙂 You’re not alone when you say: “I feel mentally empty, emotionally exhausted and physically, well tired, very tired.” These are not normal times. Blessings that you and your family remain safe and well ❤

Messy is okay, girl! Totally on this with you, COVID has messed up everything that we knew and it’s a lot difficult to operate within the new set rules. Although, I can’t imagine what all you had to go through while relocating in these times but I wish you some mental peace and sunshine. 🌈💕🌞🤗

Pallavi, your so-called rant makes total sense. When someone speaks a universal truth, it is less a rant to me. I heard a term that clarifies what I have been saying less concisely. What is happening is “predicted and predictable.” Pandemics know no borders, no belief systems, no political parties – they are equal opportunity offenders.
People in leadership positions (I avoid the use of the term leaders) who make calculated political decisions are doing a disservice to their constituents. An epidemiologist and historian noted a few months back on NPR – mission one of dealing with pandemics is tell people the truth. In so doing, they will be more inclined to do things for the greater good.
The US mishandled the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918 and have badly mishandled the COVID-19 starting at the top. As a result, we have anti-maskers and people who more boldly attend social gatherings. As my retired Air Force brother-in-law noted, asking people to wear a mask, socially distance, wash their hands and be smart is not like asking them to storm the beach at Normandy.
So, not very cautiously reopening businesses, schools, events and places of worship is causing contagions of COVID-19. Not wanting to wish COVID-19 on anyone, but that is predicted and predictable. But, for some reason some so-called leaders do not understand this. The virus spreads exponentially, not arithmetically – 100 people picked it up at a recent motorcycle event and will take it home with them, eg.
Be safe. Keep your sanity. These are interesting times. Keith
